Dear Editor, As a representative for the Student Association this past semester, I would like to state the blatently obvious. Indeed, there is a problem with diversity on this campus. Some people don't believe there should be any. Others, such as myself, believe there isn't enough. What I don't understand is: why don't the students share their voices and opinions? We're here to help you! We are a STUDENT Association for a reason. I would also like to state that it kills me that people always say, "Oh that could never happen here." News flash! It IS happening. All non-dominant groups on this campus are being attacked in different kinds of ways. These are good people, people with their own views and personality. We are a culturally diverse campus. Embrace it. Don't fear it. People that attempt to enstill fear and hate in us are not the people to listen to. For godsakes, we have two non-dominant group candidates for the Democratic party!
Times are changing. As for the last letter to the editor written by Yuriy Popko, I would like to say, just because Joan, Lou, David and I aren't afraid to embrace who we are, who other people are, and want what is best for this campus and the students does NOT mean that we are trying to take over. We really want to make a difference. Yuriy, what did you do for the students this past semester? Be careful students of ARC, you have to learn to look past what people want you to see. Learn to take a deeper look. Do you really want people representing you that don't really give a sh*t about you?
Sincerly, Rachid Frihi
